FutureGov SAARC Summit 2012: Intel joins hands with ICTA to promote e-Governance in Sri Lanka

ICTA, the co-hosts of FutureGov SAARC Summit 2012, signed on Intel as the Knowledge Partner for the forum. As the longest running e-Governance conference in the region, FutureGov SAARC Summit 2012 takes a comprehensive look at the issues at the heart of information management for the Sri Lankan public sector. 

“Intel has time and again helped us in our e-governance initiatives with their expertise and valuable global experiences. The FutureGov SAARC Summit 2012, with Intel as the Knowledge Partner, will take us closer to the ‘Mahinda Chintanaya’- vision of turning Sri Lanka into a knowledge Hub,” stated  Reshan Dewapura, CEO, ICTA.  

Bringing together experts from around the world, FutureGov SAARC Summit 2012 will provide a unique opportunity for public sector buyers and private sector solution providers to learn from one another. The forum will focus on key areas of ICT adoption in governance including digital inclusion, mobile government, large scale data management, information security, and cloud computing. Backed by in-depth research and conversations with senior regional government employees, the event promises to provide tailored solutions to region specific issues in e-governance.

ICTA exhibition and seminar on - ‘How ICT makes business grow’

The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) will conduct a seminar / exhibition at the Matara Sanaya Mansion on July 7th. The two-pronged thrust, aimed at driving home the above truth to the total business community and SME’s by the use of ICT will be held from 9.00 a.m. to 4.  p. m. 

Eminent speakers from leading companies will deliver addresses on the effective use of ICT for business and implementing the web presence at this event.

The first exhibition for carrying the message that the use of ICT will greatly improve businesses was held in Kandy on 23rd and 24th March, 2012. Nine companies from Kandy and seven firms from Colombo exhibited their products and services at the Kandy event.

The Matara event, like its predecessor in Kandy, will give the business community in Matara an ideal opportunity to explore various products and solutions under one roof. It will enable companies to interact with one another and find solutions that can be tailor-made for their requirements. 

This series of exhibition cum seminar is being held under the Domestic IT Small and Medium Business (SMB) Linkages Programme of ICTA’s Investment and Private Sector Development Programme, says ICTA.

First Nenasala specially dedicated for the police department launched

A S P Ruwan Kumara and others on the occasion of the launch of the Nenasala specially dedicated for the police department staff and family members.

A Nenasala  (wisdom outlet) was set up  for the improvement of the ICT knowledge of  the police department staff and their children recently. 

The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) says that this Nenasala was set up in the new library premises of the Crimes Reporting Division situated in Colombo 07.

According to ICTA this is the first Nenasala set up for the Sri Lanka Police Department. Delivering his admonition at the inauguration of the Nenasala,  Chief Incumbent of the Colombo 10 Sri Bauddhaaraamaa Venerable Lunugamvehera Wimala Nanda Thero said that an invaluable service was rendered  by the library towards creating a society equipped with wisdom and virtue. The prelate said further that people in a society distancing themselves from consulting books try to solve  problems not with knowledge and intelligence but by physical force. 

Participating in the occasion Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne said that  people living in a society that renews itself with each day and each moment could not go forward  without a knowledge that is in keeping with   modern times.
