‘e-Diriya’ the National ICT Literacy Initiative officially inaugurated in Kegalle

Children engaged in using the interactive self-learning tool under the ‘e-Learning for kids’ project at the ICTA stall as part of the Ruwanpura National College of Education IT and educational exhibition held at the Ruwanpura National College of Education premises recently

The ‘e-Diriya’ the national  ICT literacy initiative was  officially inaugurated at the Kotiyakumbura Vidyasagara Pirivena Buddhist Temple premises in Kegalle at 10 a.m. on 26th instant. That was under the patronage of Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Hambonthota District MP Namal Rajapaksa.

The main objective of this initiative is to provide a basic computer knowledge to Samurddhi recipients and schoolchildren from families having a low income. 

Kegalle District Samurddhi recipients and schoolchildren participated in this inauguration. 

ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Chairman Prof. P. W. Epasinghe says that under this initiative 50,000 persons are expected to be empowered with ICT literacy within a month.

The initiative which has the full support of   the Sri Lanka Samurddhi Authority and the Education Ministry is implemented by ICTA under the e-Sri Lanka initiative.
