The objective of this project is to empower government officers with necessary technical skills they need in maintaining and managing multi user computer systems and networks. Thus this project is closely linked to the ICTA initiative ‘Deployment of an Information Infrastructure for Government’. The first phase of this infrastructure deployment has already completed under ICTA project, Lanka Government Network (LGN), connecting over 300 government organizations in Western, Southern, Central, Uva & Sabaragamuwa provinces. ICTA expects Advanced ICT technical training to uplift the knowledge of government officers who are currently working in the IT departments attached to these organizations and those who are responsible for carrying out activities of the IT department. These government officers will be offered training in four industry recognized certifications namely CompTIA A+ Certification (A+), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Red Hat Certified Technician (RH133), Certified MySQL Associate (CMA) to improve efficiency and effectiveness of using ICT applications & infrastructure in their respective organizations.
The candidates successfully completing the courses will be able to
- Perform the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance from peers, product documentation and vendor support services. (Generally self-sufficient)
- Follow technical developments in order to ensure utilization of new technologies.
- Grasp new technologies and implement them with a limited technical support from the external parties
- Assist superiors to make decisions in ICT related activities
