ICTA-initiated e-mobile library in Suriyawewa

"Nenasakmana", implemented by the Sooriyawewa Nenasala under the e-Society programme of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), it is not a buddy lorry loaded with agricultural produce, bricks or logs moving around in Hambantota. It is not even a mere electronic library. Rather it is a mini lorry in which many facilities are rolled into one. It houses four laptops for which power is provided through a solar panel fixed on the roof of the buddy lorry and internet connectivity through a dongle. Its library is electronic. It has CDs for kids, school children and farmers. This is, of course, in addition to information on various other disciplines, new technologies and information on Government institutions and procedures.

The facility is specifically designed for the area it serves. Currently it serves 10 Grama Niladhari Divisions selected out of 21 in the Suriyawewa Divisional Secretariat area.
