For the first time in Sri Lanka the local e-content developers will be assessed at national level. The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) which functions under the Presidential Secretariat has taken steps to organise the event.
ICTA’s Chief Operating Officer Reshan Dewapura says that individuals, groups and institutions that have developed ICT contents and ICT applications which are of benefit to society could submit their applications for these ‘e-Social Excellence’ / ‘e-Swabhimani ‘ awards.
The objective of the ‘e-Swabhimani ‘ award event is to promote creative ICT applications and to assess and appreciate at national level the individual and institutional creators of such applications.
ICTA’s e-Society Programme Head Chitranganie Mubarak said that applications for these national competitions could be submitted under eight categories, namely, e-Government and Institutions, e-Health and Environment, e-Learning and Education , e-Entertainment and Games, e-Culture and National Heritage, e-Science and Technology, e-Business and Commerce, e-Inclusion and Participation.
Applications for ‘e-Swabhimani’ and ‘e-Social Excellence’ awards will be accepted till 15th September, 2009.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) said further that the most excellent local e-contents will be selected by a an assessment board comprising national and international members and the national awards will be given by the end of the year.Â
