Reputed Project Management qualification earned by ICTA staff
Seven members of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) staff have earned the USA based Project Management Institute’s reputed global credential -- the Project Management Professional (PMP®), a senior ICTA spokesperson said.
This additional professional qualification has contributed much to the efficiency of these personnel managing projects at ICTA that are critical to the ICT Development of the country under the eSri Lanka initiative, ICTA spokesperson emphasised.
PMP® credential recognises demonstrated knowledge and skill in leading and directing project teams and in delivering project results. It also demonstrates that the credential holder possesses a solid foundation of experience and education in project management. This certification programme offered by PMI is the first professional certification programme of its kind to receive the ISO 9001 certification, a globally recognised mark of a quality management system.
To obtain a PMP® credential, an individual with a degree must have a minimum of three years of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours should have been spent on leading and directing project tasks. It is also necessary that the individual concerned adheres to a professional code of conduct, undergoes 35 hours of project management-related training and passes the PMP® examination.
