It is with great delight that the announcement is made  that Asia’s  most important international exhibition and conference on the use of information and communication technology for development will be held in Sri Lanka. While Malaysia, Thailand and India had each its opportunity to host the ‘e-Asia’ conference and exhibition  in the past, the Philippines and Sri Lanka had submitted their applications for the role this time.

IT connects 75 percent Government institutions

Information Technology (IT) will play a major role in the economic development in Sri Lanka as 75 percent of the Government institutions including Ministries, Departments, Provincial Councils, Pradeshiya Sabhas and Divisional Secretaries have been connected to a cohesive network that enables an efficient service to the public, Chief Operating Officer Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Reshan Dewapura said at the launch of the e-Asia 2009, Asia’s most prestigious international exhibition and conference in Colombo yesterday.
