ICTA felicitates the IBM CSC Team

Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) recently felicitated three IBM staff members who volunteered their time through IBM’s Corporate Service Corps (CSC) program at ICTA.  Through IBM CSC program, high performing IBM employees volunteer one month of their time to support government agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and local entrepreneurs and small businesses in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America in economic development projects.

IBM CSC team comprising Dr. Anja Elsagir, Ms. Orla Duffy and Mr. Stefan Chrobot volunteered their time for the ‘eLand Register’ project which Registrar General’s Department of Sri Lanka has initiated in collaboration with ICTA.  ‘eLand Register’ project envisions to increase the efficiency in the Land Registry offices in Sri Lanka by introducing information and communication technology to their day to day activities and thereby provide a more people centric and convenient service to  the citizens. 

Commenting at the felicitation ceremony, Mr. Reshan Dewapura, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ICTA thanked the three IBM team members for the competence, dedication and professionalism showed by them in completing the required assignment.  Mr. Dewapura also thanked IBM for offering ICTA the services of IBM CSC program and asserted that this initiative had produced the desired results.  He further stated that ICTA will continue to support similar CSR-led initiatives of any organization with the aim of making ICT one of the foundations for economic development in Sri Lanka.

IBM team members thanked ICTA for providing them the opportunity to be part of a national level initiative such as the ‘eLand Register’ project and also commended the proficiency, patience and passion shown by the staff of both Registrar General’s Department and ICTA towards the ‘eLand Register’ project.  The IBM team members stated that they were impressed by the environment and the infrastructure available for them.  They pointed out that the smile of Sri Lankans had made them feel welcome in Sri Lanka and that it would linger in the memory of their time in Sri Lanka.
