உலக சனத் தொகையில் பல்தூரிகைகள் பயன்படுத்தப்படுவதை விட கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசிகளின் பாவனை அதிகம்.
கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசி மக்களின் அன்றாடவாழ்வில் நடவடிக்கைகளை இலகுவாக மேற்கொள்வதற்கான விடயமாக மாறியுள்ளதாக இலங்கை தகவல் தொடர்பாடல் தொழில்நுட்ப முகவர் நிலையத்தின் பிரதம நிறைவேற்று அதிகாரி ரெஷான் தேவப்புர தெரிவித்துள்ளார். கொழும்பில் இடம் பெற்ற 2011 தெற்காசிய கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசிகள் மாநாட்டில் அவர் உரையாற்றினார். இலங்கை தகவல் தொடர்பாடல் தொழில்நுட்ப முகவர் நிலையம் இந்த மாநாட்டை ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தது. கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசித் துறையுடன் தொடர்புடைய உள்நாட்டு வெளிநாட்;டுப் பிரதிநிதிகள் இதில் கலந்துகொண்டார்கள்.
நிகழ்வில் உரைநிகழ்த்திய ரெஷான் தேவப்புர மேலும் உரைநிகழ்த்துகையில்,
கடந்த ஆண்டை விட மாநாடு இவ்வருடத்தில் வெற்றியளித்துள்ளதாகக் கூற முடியும். பிராந்தியத்தின் சிறந்த கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசி உள்ளடக்கங்களை தெரிவு செய்வதற்கான போட்டிக்கு கூடுதலான விண்ணப்பப்படிவங்கள் கிடைத்ததன் மூலம் இது உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது . உலக சனத் தொகையில் பல்தூரிகைகளை பயன்படுத்துவதை விட இன்று கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசிகள் பயன்படுத்தப்படுவதாகத் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. மோட்டார் வாகன உற்பத்தியையும் தாண்டி கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசித் துறை முன்னேற்றம் கண்டுள்ளது. இதன் மூலம் கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசிகள் மக்களுடன் எந்தளவு நெருக்கமாக உள்ளது என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்வது சிரமான காரியம் அல்ல.
இலங்கையில் கையடக்கத் தொலைபேசித் துறை துரிதமாக வளர்ச்சியடைந்துள்ளது. குறிப்பாக ஜனாதிபதி மஹிந்த ராஜபக்ஷ அவர்கள் தகவல் தொடர்பாடல் தொழில்நுட்பத்துறை தொடர்பாக தூரதிருஷ்டியுடனும், சிறந்த முறையிலும் பணியாற்றுவதால் இந்த நலன்களை மக்கள் இன்று அனுபவிக்கிறார்கள். தொடர்ந்தும் இதனை விஸ்தரிக்க இவ்வாறான சர்வதேச மாநாடுகள் மிக முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததாகும்.
Emphasising the contribution the South Asian Mobile Conference makes towards the National Development Programme ICTA CEO said: This conference and events leading up to it and its follow-up are all contributions towards realizing the objectives of innovative National Development Progrmmes such as e-Sri Lanka. Giving an insight to the extent mobile penetration in the world today Dewapura made a thought-provoking citation from eminent speaker on mobile space Tomi Ahonan: “At a time when more mobile phones are used in this world than tooth brushes, when the potential of the mobile phone led financial space, is bigger than that created by the entire automobile industry of the world, when it is bigger than the entire food industry of the world, mobiles devices and mobile applications, become a phenomenon we simply cannot ignore and becomes a tool / an enabler that we need to factor into our day-to-day business, day-to-day activities and simply in our day-to-day lives”
Moving to the corollary to the above Dewapura said: “Therefore it is indeed appropriate that we continue with activities such as these, on a regular and frequent basis to discuss the importance and various other aspects of mobile content and how they could be used to” take the benefits of ICT to every citizen.

Epasinghe, Digital Empowerment Foundation Founder and Director Osama Manzar, Impact Mobile Canada President and CEO and keynote speaker Gary Schwartz, Mobilium International CEO and Founder and keynote speaker Ralph Simon , Dialog Axiata PLC Sri Lanka Group Chief Executive Officer Hans Wijesuriya, Telecommunication and IT Ministry Secretary Nimal Atukorala and Etisalat Lanka Pvt. Ltd. CEO Dumindra Ratnayake were also among the participants at the inauguration of SAMC 2011.
