eParliament

The parliament is one of the most important public institutions where decisions and discussions regarding the present and future of the country. This project aims to advocate and build capacity through the use of ICT for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, transparency and information sharing of the Sri Lankan parliamentary processes. A system study will be conducted to evaluate current and future needs of the parliament as part of this project. The current parliament website introduced in early 2002 is a static source of information. This project will also expand this site to include information in Sinhala and Tamil content with newer functions required by Parliament. Upgrades are planned with training facilities and an Internet café to automate the manual processes of Parliament, allowing parliamentarians and parliament staff gain easier, faster access to resources electronically. A training / presentation lab will also be setup as part of this project for ongoing capacity building and awareness creation.
