This initiative supports SME IT companies to fuel productivity improvements and efficiencies across diverse industries including agriculture, tourism, retail, manufacturing, etc. with the development and promotion of cost effective, yet specific solutions, to support the transformation of general businesses into digital businesses.
Encouraging such SMEs will help create technology centric jobs in the local regions and assist in overall regional empowerment, creating a foundation for technology centric industries to be built in the future.
The IT SME Support Program targets IT SMEs in Sri Lanka to improve their products, tap into new markets and provide opportunities to meet new clients. This will also expose new ICT technologies in multiple domains for business users in varied regions. It provides them with an opportunity to  meet ICT companies to share and explore solutions they could incorporate to their business.


•    To educate the small and medium businesses in various industry verticals including agriculture, tourism, retail, manufacturing, etc. on the benefits that Information Technology can bring to their business
•    To educate the small and medium business community on the effective use of the internet to create visibility to their business
•    To provide the opportunity for IT SMEs in a particular region to exhibit their service offerings to the business community in the same region
•    To provide a platform for IT SMEs in different regions to network resulting in regional partnerships
•    To influence regional employment generation for technically skilled persons

The goal of the strategy is to promote the introduction and utilization of ICT in SMBs and to enhance competitiveness while providing a platform for IT SMEs to showcase their products and service offerings for SMEs in provinces.
