ICTA, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy, recently convened a powerhouse lineup of Sri Lanka’s top industry experts for an action-oriented Industry Development Workshop—a pivotal step in accelerating the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The workshop brought together five expert-led committees focused on the most critical pillars of the digital economy: Capacity and Skills Development, Policy, Export Growth, Investment, and Country Branding. Each team dove deep into domain-specific challenges, examined emerging trends, and collaborated on bold, practical strategies that move beyond talk and into implementation.
The Capacity and Skills Development team worked on future-proofing the national talent pool through strategic alignment between education, innovation, and workforce demands. The Policy team addressed the frameworks needed to meet Sri Lanka’s ambitious $5 billion digital economy target, tackling areas like digital governance, taxation, and regulatory agility.

The Export Growth team focused on scaling homegrown tech to global markets, while the Investment committee laid the groundwork for stable investor confidence and long-term growth through strong branding and clear policy direction. Meanwhile, the Country Branding team shaped narratives to elevate Sri Lanka’s global tech identity and amplify its presence on the international stage.
This high-level, collaborative environment wasn’t just a brainstorming session—it was a strategic intervention. The workshop resulted in unified roadmaps and strengthened public-private alignment, setting the tone for a more resilient, inclusive, and competitive digital economy.
Sri Lanka’s digital future isn’t just being imagined—it’s being actively engineered by the best in the industry.
